Kelly Tilghman hopes that doing television is a lot like riding a bicycle.
Tilghman, the former Golf Channel anchor and host, announced on Twitter that she would be joining CBS Sports as a member of its announce team at the PGA Championship next week at TPC Harding Park.
Tilghman spent 22 years at Golf Channel and was the first female broadcaster to anchor PGA Tour coverage before stepping away in 2018.
Tilghman’s announcement comes one day after Davis Love III said this would be his final week serving as a TV announcer for CBS Sports. Love said he made the decision to focus on competitive golf and spend more time with his family. Tilghman stepped away to raise her daughter, but she always knew she’d have a second act in the game.
“I can’t imagine a scenario where I would never be on television again,” she told Golfweek in 2018. “That’s impossible for me to imagine right now. It’s who I am. It’s what I know. You know, it’s still what I love to do, but I just need some time to take a step back and really appreciate all the things that I’ve done and kind of assess going forward what’s next.”
It’s unclear whether the PGA Championship coverage will be a one-off or if Tilghman will be filling Love’s role for the foreseeable future.
